TRY THIS: ORGAN MOVEMENT DEMO!

Man do I miss teaching in person workshops! We are going to give this demo a try via email and see how it goes 🤪

Try this to get a feel for how your organ movement relates to your entire body:

1. Bend over a little bit while standing so you can grab on gently to a portion of your belly. This is going to mimic a restriction in your organ system.

2. Then try to stand up and feel what happens to the tissue underneath your hands. Do you feel a tugging? Do you feel a stretch somewhere else in your body?

3. Then try moving your leg behind you and see what you feel, mimicking how a restriction could affect your walking, running, exercise.

Organs need to move in order for your joints and muscles to work well too!

STOMACH RESTRICTION (SCRUNCHIE)

Here’s a similar restriction to the above demo, using a scrunchie instead to show an example of a restriction around the stomach.

When we look at what the organ restriction in movement does to the movement of our joints, here are a few things affected besides the organs:

X The fascial system has to overcome that added tension to move the arms overhead and extend the sponge = more energy expended + extra strain on things like the pec & abdominal muscles

X Limited joint range of motion for the shoulders, compressing the joints more

X Difficulty breathing with overhead movements because there’s so much tension the breath has nowhere to go!

HOW DO WE FEEL ORGAN RESTRICTIONS?

So how can these organ restrictions be felt when we can't see them? I get this question often and I love sharing what a professor mentioned once:

Sommeliers can train their tongue to sip wine and know vast details about wine. Details that seem impossible to know from taste buds, like where the grapes were harvested and what year.

The way their taste buds our trained, we can train our hands.

To feel different levels of tissue, densities, temperature, nerve impulses, etc. It's all in the specificity & training.
